About Karen Davies
Karen Davies grew up surrounded by the vibrant wildlife and fauna of Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda. It was during this time that she first started to explore her blossoming artistic talent. She honed her artistic skills painting portraits of friend’s animals as presents and demand for her work grew, leading to numerous commissions.
Karen’s love of horses took her to England, studying at The Royal Agricultural College Cirencester, and then subsequently working in the racing and bloodstock industry. Throughout this time she pursued her art, her experiences in the industry enabling her to vividly capture the atmosphere of events, and action of the animals surrounding her. Her painting flourished as she benefitted from the Gloucestershire countryside, home to many a point-to-point and gypsy fair.
Karen’s unique style focuses on the colours and ambience of her subject. Painting mainly in pastel, but equally adept in oil, her work shows an honesty and understanding of her craft. Although better known for her equine and country sports studies, Karen is truly an all round artist. This is ably demonstrated by her paintings of Africa, her worldwide travels and The Military.
Karen currently lives in West Point, New York with her husband and dog Impi. Her works graces the walls of many an art lover, with clients in Europe, the Middle East and the United States of America.
